Re: Va All Star Game
I'll be honest, a lot of those coaches do think the game is about them. One of the softball coaches for the West called timeout right as the batter was going to get in the box to get a pinch hitter. I don't know if I took it the wrong way, but I would have been pissed if I was that kid. I mean, it was probably going to be her last high school at bat.

i know that was meant as sarcasm, and while those west of roanoke aren't "trash" per se, we definitely are not on the same level as the Tidewater area...there's a pretty big gap too
save the exceptions such as the Jones brothers, JHam, Chad Beasley and Jake Houseright...but for the 1 D1 prospect in 10 years we get around here they get 30-40 each year...and as far as basketball goes the difference is even bigger

Re: Va All Star Game
Yeah but wouldnt you say population has something to do with that. Its like saying that a few counties in FL makes the tidewater look like a pop warner league. For the small amount of people in the area, the D1 talent has been pretty respectable. Exposure has a lot to do with it also, I know in baseball that is 100% the case.

Re: Va All Star Game
obviously it is...but that does not change my point...there is the perception that anything west of Roanoke is "trash" b/c for the most part, it has been
we are not the city, we don't have the amount of kids they do to compete against each other every day...so it still stands, perception for the most part has been reality
